Founded on a deep appreciation for architecture, history, and heritage, the initiative was named Madras Inherited to reflect the belief that the city's heritage is a shared inheritance of all its inhabitants. I had the wonderful opportunity to create a collection of thoughtfully crafted work to distill the city’s quiet grandeur and the subtle, often overlooked nuances that together compose a luminous visual anthology, one that was built over years of history, migration and cultural confluence.
Above is an attempt to bring back memories of some iconic theatres of the city, theatres that went above from just being structures to occupying a significant place/ role in the city's history and people's memories. 'Lost Theatres of Madras' was an effort to have a piece of these beautiful theatres, for keepsake or to spread their story far and beyond. Five theatres were included as part of this series - Agastya, Pilot, Prarthana, Roxy, and Safire.
